Mr. José Estévez Álvarez began making his own wines around 1940, using the best grapes from his vineyards, bottling part of the production for his own consumption and selling the rest to local wine merchants. Little by little, his son Pepe began suggesting to his father the need to improve the methods and winemaking processes, as well as the bottling and labeling, in order to market the wine properly and to highlight the outstanding quality of a Ribeiro wine.

Today, Pepe, together with his son Mauro, continue this work.
