SON DO COLLEITEIRO. “The Great Wine and Music Spectacle of the Galician Summer”

• Once again, the Association of Colleiteiros of Ribeiro and Artisan Viticulture of Galicia is organizing Son do Colleiteiro, Galicia’s premier summer wine and music festival.

With a programme filled with outstanding music and wines from the wineries and vineyards of the Ribeiro colleiteiros, events will take place every Saturday throughout July and August. The season will culminate in a grand closing event in the historic town of Ribadavia.

The final event, to be held on 22 August at A Alameda, will bring together traditional music, local gastronomy and the wines of the colleiteiros. Featured performers will include Comando Curuxás, Tarabelos, folk groups from the Ribeiro region and traditional polyphonic vocal ensembles. Together, they will create a cultural and festive celebration that harmoniously combines the very best of Galician music with the wines crafted by Ribeiro’s small-scale winegrowers.

Through this initiative, the Association of Colleiteiros reaffirms its commitment to tradition, culture and history by choosing the region’s vineyards and wineries as the setting for each Saturday’s events throughout July and August. At the same time, it strengthens Ribadavia’s role as a symbol of Galicia’s winemaking heritage and the historic capital of Ribeiro wine.

The initiative also seeks to restore the Ribeiro region to the centre of attention by highlighting its landscape, traditions and culture as defining elements of its identity. It follows the example of other European wine regions with comparable history and heritage—such as Catalonia, the Basque Country, Burgundy, Jura, Tuscany, Bordeaux and Alsace—where small winegrowers and producers promote their own territories, attracting wine enthusiasts and cultural travellers from across Europe.
